Scrap your vehicle: Everything you need to know

Thinking of selling your end-of-life vehicle and have some questions? We’ve got all the answers. 

To speed up the sales process it’s important that you remember to bring all your important documents to our office when selling your vehicle:

  • The vehicle’s V5 registration document showing you as the registered owner
  • Any service history information you have for the car, including your logbook
  • The car manual
  • A valid MOT certificate (where applicable)
  • Your driving licence and counterpart
  • 2 proofs of address – this could include a utility bill or tax letter, issued within the last three months
  • A debit card, cheque book or statement for the account that will be used for payment
 
You will also need the following items, where applicable:
 
  • Spare keys
  • Locking wheel nut for alloy wheels
  • Detachable radio fascia
  • Radio security code
  • Security code for obtaining replacement keys
 
Strictly speaking, we cannot pay you in cash for your scrap car. Changes to the law in 2013 made it illegal to pay for scrap metal in cash. This means we can only pay you by electronic transfer or cheque. We will pay you by transfer of cheque when we collect your scrap vehicle or you deliver to our scrapyard in Wembley.

We pay you electronically via bank transfer or cheque for your end-of-life vehicle. We do not accept cash for scrap metal - this is a criminal offence and can get both parties in trouble.
